CLASSIC MODE

The original Downset experience. Tap cells to reroll their numbers. When a cell matches any of its 8 neighbors (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), both cells clear. Cleared cells can trigger cascade chains for big scores.

RULES

• Tap a cell to reroll its number (random new value)
• Each cell has 3 taps before it locks
• Matching is 8-directional (includes diagonals)
• Locked cells cost −50 points
• When all taps are used with no active neighbor, a cell may become a wildcard (10% chance)
• Tapping a wildcard clears ALL cells of a random number on the board
• Hints highlight cells that already match a neighbor (amber glow)

SCORING

• 1–2 chain: 10 pts per cell
• 3–4 chain: 18 pts per cell
• 5–6 chain: 28 pts per cell
• 7+ chain: 40 pts per cell
• Perfect clear (all cells): +1000 bonus

TIPS

• Use hints (amber glow) to spot easy matches
• Don't rush, sometimes waiting lets cascades set up naturally
• Wildcards are powerful but rare. Plan around them
